Missions
Hope
International Church has sent many of its members (more than 20 in full time work) overseas and
into cross-cultural missions in its 50+ years of existence.
We take the Great Commission very seriously and mean to be
a part of fulfilling this exciting call by raising up and
sending missionaries from among us as well as supporting missionaries from
among other agencies and organizations.
Harvest Prayer
Every week we meet to pray for the missions around the
world and in the local area. We pray for countries throughout the world
using Operation World and similar materials. We pray for God to build up
the church in that country and we pray for missionary work to continue to
advance. We also pray for the ministries of our church to be effective in
reaching out to others and in building up the congregation. We pray for
specific prayer needs of people involved in the church.
Missions Month
Every year, we take the whole month of May to focus on
missions and missionaries. We choose a different theme each year and learn
more about how God is working in that aspect of missions. For example, one
year we learned about God’s work in cities. We learned about how
important cities have been to God throughout history and how important they
still are. We learned about some of the ways missionaries are reaching out
to the lost in cities as more and more of the world’s population is moving
into cities. Each year we have one or more of our missionaries come to talk
about their work and we have one or more outside speakers.
Missionaries We Support
We support missionaries that are reaching out to many
different people groups and ministry needs throughout the world. We
support 15 people or organizations in cross-cultural missions work. Of
these, 6 are in unique pioneer work. We support 9 families, 1 single
missionary, and 2 organizations reaching people in Africa, Asia, Europe, North
America, and South America. Our missionaries do translation work, home
missions, church planting, evangelism, discipleship, teaching, camping
ministries, and so forth.
Short-term Missions
We support individuals who travel for short-term
missions. Our church sponsors trips to Russia, Mali and India.
